Roadmap
Moriqa is a pixel art and animation editor for game sprites, with a photo editor beside it, built one solid piece at a time. Here is what works today, what is being built next, and what is planned after that.
Shipped
10Pixel tools
A pixel-perfect pencil, lines, shapes, fill and selections, with symmetry and lock alpha
Layers and groups
Named, grouped, locked and hidden layers, plus reference images that never export
Frame animation
A timeline with tags, per-frame timing, onion skin and drawing while it plays
Palettes
Classic presets, ramps and hue-shifted shades, and one colour replaced on every frame
Tiles
A tile grid over the canvas and a 3 × 3 tiled preview for seams
Engine export
Sprite sheets with Aseprite-style JSON, Godot 4, Unity and GameMaker files, GIF and PNG frames
Imports
PNGs as sprites, and sprite sheets cut into frames
Projects that stay safe
Several sprites per project, recent projects, and unsaved work offered back after a crash
Free image tools
Pixel art from pictures, palettes, resizing, compressing, cropping and converting
Photo editing
A photo mode in the same editor: layers, masks, adjustment layers, retouching tools, text and PSD files
Coming soon
2Components
Draw a part once, such as a sword or a head, and reuse it across sprites; edit it once and every copy follows
Variants
Named versions of a component, such as colours, damage states or open and closed
Planned
7Keyframe animation
Move, rotate and scale parts between keys instead of redrawing every frame
Component marketplace
Share the parts you draw with other artists, and use theirs in your own sprites
Slices and pivots
Named regions of a sprite, pivot points, and 9-slice borders for UI panels, written into the export
Tilesets and tilemaps
Draw a tileset, paint a map with it on its own layer, and export both for your engine
Indexed colour
Pixels that point at palette entries, so changing one swatch recolours the whole sprite
Engine importers
Plugins for Godot, Unity and GameMaker that bring an export into the engine in one step
Illustration projects
Artboards, vector shapes, a pen tool and text, exported as SVG or crisp PNG
