Pixel Art Upscaler

Make sprites, icons and tiles 2× to 32× larger with every pixel kept as a sharp square. No blur and no new colours, and your images never leave your device.

Made on your device. Your images are never uploaded.

  • No blur, ever
  • Many images at once

How it works

How to enlarge pixel art without blur

  1. Step 1: Add your pixel art

Choose, drop or paste a sprite, an icon or a tile set. A whole folder works too.

  2. Step 2: Pick how many times larger

2× to 32×, always a whole number, so every pixel becomes a perfect square block.

  3. Step 3: Download the PNG

Save one image, or the whole batch as a ZIP. Transparency is kept.

Bigger, and still pixel art

  • Hard pixel edges

Pixels are repeated, never blended, so the art looks exactly the same, only larger.

  • No new colours

The result uses the colours of the original and nothing else: the palette stays intact.

  • Rounded edges, if you like

Scale2x and Scale3x take the staircase off diagonal lines, still without adding a colour.

  • Never uploaded

Everything happens in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.

In detail

Enlarging pixel art the right way

Why pixel art goes blurry

Most image resizers blend neighbouring pixels to make photos look smooth. On pixel art that blending shows as a soft, smeared edge around every pixel, and it adds colours that were never in the palette.

This tool repeats each pixel instead (nearest-neighbour scaling). A pixel becomes a block of 4 × 4 at 4×, and the result is the same art, only larger.

Choosing a size

  • Use whole numbers. At 2×, 3× or 4× every pixel comes out the same size; at 2.5× some would be wider than others, which is why the tool does not offer it.
  • For sharing online, aim for 512 to 1024 pixels on the longer side: 8× for a 64-pixel sprite, 16× for a 32-pixel one.
  • For a game, keep the art at 1× and let the engine scale it with filtering turned off. Enlarge here for store pages, social posts and print.
  • For print, enlarge as far as the tool allows, then set the printed size in your layout app.

Sharp or rounded

Sharp pixels is plain repetition, and nearly always the right choice.

Rounded uses Scale2x and Scale3x, methods made for old game emulators. They look at each pixel’s neighbours and fill the corners of diagonal lines, using only colours that are already there. Outlines look smoother, while small details such as single-pixel eyes can change shape, so compare both.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to Moriqa or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

How do I enlarge pixel art without it getting blurry?

Add the image, pick how many times larger it should be, and download the PNG. Each pixel is repeated as a square block, so nothing is blended.

What is nearest-neighbour scaling?

It is enlarging by copying each pixel instead of mixing it with its neighbours. It is the only kind of enlargement that leaves pixel art unchanged.

How large can the result be?

Up to 32× and up to 8192 pixels on a side. A larger request is brought down to the biggest size the image can take, and the tool says so.

Is this the same as the Image Upscaler?

No. The Image Upscaler is for photos and adds detail with AI. This tool is for pixel art and adds nothing: it only makes the existing pixels bigger.

Does it keep transparency?

Yes. Transparent pixels stay transparent, and the result is saved as PNG.
