Getting a good PNG from an SVG

Why convert SVG to PNG?

SVG is a vector format: shapes described by maths, sharp at any size. It is ideal for websites and design tools, but many places, such as social networks, slide decks, chat apps and some upload forms, only accept pictures like PNG.

Converting draws the SVG into a PNG at the exact size you need.

Choosing the size

Because the SVG is drawn fresh at that size, a large PNG is just as sharp as a small one.

  • Original: the width and height written in the SVG file.
  • 2× or 4×: double or quadruple that, for sharp results on high-resolution screens and in print.
  • Width: an exact width in pixels, such as 1024 for an app store icon. The height follows the drawing’s shape.

Transparent or white background

Empty areas of the SVG stay transparent in the PNG, so logos sit cleanly on any background. Choose White for a solid background, or save as JPG, which is always white behind the drawing.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser, on your own device. Your files are never sent to Moriqa or anyone else, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

How do I convert an SVG to a high-resolution PNG?

Choose 4×, or pick Width and type the size you need, up to 16,384 pixels. The drawing is rendered at that size, so it stays perfectly sharp.

Is the transparent background kept?

Yes. Transparent parts of the SVG stay transparent in the PNG. You can switch the background to white if you prefer.

Why does my SVG look different from the original?

SVGs that load fonts or images from the internet can’t use them once converted offline. Converting text to outlines in your design app before exporting avoids this.

Can I convert SVG to JPG or WebP?

Yes. Choose JPG or WebP under Convert to. JPG always gets a white background.

Can I convert a whole icon set at once?

Yes. Drop in many SVG files or a folder, and download every PNG together as a ZIP.
