WebP is an image format made for the web. Because its files are small, many websites serve their images as WebP, so pictures you save from a page often end up as .webp files.
Plenty of desktop apps, slide decks and upload forms still won’t accept WebP. Converting to PNG gives you a file that works with all of them.
