How it works

How to compress an image

  1. Step 1: Add your images

Choose or drop one photo or a whole batch. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more all work.

  2. Step 2: Set the limit

Type the largest file size you need, such as 100 KB, or pick a compression level.

  3. Step 3: Download

Each image is shrunk to fit. Save them one by one or all together in a ZIP.

Smaller files, still sharp

  • Exact size limits

Upload forms that say “max 100 KB”? Type the limit and every photo lands just under it.

  • Best quality for the size

The highest quality that still fits is found automatically, so nothing is squeezed more than needed.

  • Never uploaded

Photos are compressed in your browser. Documents and ID photos stay on your device.

  • Whole batches

Compress dozens of photos at once and download them in a single ZIP.

In detail

Compress images for forms, email and the web

Compress to an exact file size

Application forms, exam portals and job sites often accept photos only under a limit such as 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. Type that limit and each image is saved at the best quality that still fits.

If a very large photo can’t get under the limit at a reasonable quality, it is also made slightly smaller in pixels, just enough to fit. Untick Make the image smaller if needed to keep the original dimensions.

Or choose a compression level

  • Light: barely visible change, good for photos you want to keep.
  • Balanced: a big saving with little visible difference, ideal for email and websites.
  • Strong: the smallest files, for previews and quick sharing.

JPG or WebP?

JPG works everywhere, including every upload form. WebP makes even smaller files and keeps transparency, and is well suited to websites. When a form doesn’t say, choose JPG.

Tips for the smallest files

  • Crop away what you don’t need first: fewer pixels means a smaller file at the same quality.
  • Photos from a phone are much larger than any screen. Resizing to about 1600 px wide saves a lot on its own.
  • Screenshots with text and flat colours compress best as PNG; use the Image Converter for that.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Add the image, keep Target file size selected, type 100 and choose KB. The photo is saved at the highest quality that stays under 100 KB.

Does compressing reduce image quality?

Compression removes detail you are unlikely to notice. With a generous limit or the Light level the difference is very hard to see; the tighter the limit, the more visible it becomes.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Compression happens entirely in your browser, which makes it safe for ID photos, documents and signatures. Nothing is sent to Moriqa or anyone else.

Can I compress several images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like; each is compressed to the same limit, and you can download them together as a ZIP.

Why is my image smaller in pixels after compressing?

When a photo can’t reach the limit through quality alone, it is scaled down just enough to fit. Untick Make the image smaller if needed to keep the original size.

Can I compress PNG images?

Yes. PNG files are saved as JPG or WebP, which are far smaller for photos. Choose WebP to keep transparent areas.

Need to fix the photo first?
